Some brain conditions are invisible. If you have a broken leg, friends know because you are wearing a cast. People can’t see the effects of a brain condition and that can be frustrating and make it hard for others to understand.
In this program you will hear from other adolescents who have experienced a brain condition like a TBI, brain tumor, epilepsy or others. They’ll talk about their experiences with brain conditions and their roads to recovery.
Common Worries
Every teenager experiencing a brain condition faces different problems. Sometimes those problems are related to the teen’s injury or illness and sometimes the problems are related to the stresses all teens face.
Here are some common worries that other teens talk about:
- Getting worse or getting sick again
- Having a seizure in public
- Keeping up with school work
- Going to college or getting a job
- Fitting in with other kids
- Being treated differently than other kids
- Coping with mood swings and behavior changes
- Not being able to drive
- Handling everything that’s going on in their lives
- Being successful in life
